Michelle is so excited to join the DeeTox team and serve our community in Chapel Hill! She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Miami and completed graduate degrees at Duke University, Gonzaga University, and John’s Hopkin’s University. She is Board Certified as both a Family Nurse Practioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Michelle began her aesthetics journey training and working with her dear friend and master aesthetic trainer/injector, Erika Barry, in Washington, DC. She is passionate about whole-person wellness, enhancement of natural beauty, and helping patients feel like the best and freshest version of themselves. She loves to learn and bring new knowledge, modalities and options to her patients.

Michelle is originally from the Netherlands and moved to Chapel Hill as a teen. She is a mom to a sweet baby boy, completed yoga teacher training and loves to practice yoga, and loves to travel and experience places and cultures. Kristie Foushee, RN, has enjoyed a remarkable nursing career spanning over three decades. Her journey began at UNC Hospitals, where she gained comprehensive experience in various nursing specialties. During her time at UNC Hospitals, Kristie honed her skills in post-operative care and floor nursing, which laid the foundation for her eventual role as the UNC Vein Clinic Director. This position was crucial in shaping her professional trajectory, especially in the realm of aesthetics. As the Director of the UNC Vein Clinic, Kristie performed sclerotherapy on hundreds of patients, effectively treating varicose and spider veins. Her expertise in this area was highly regarded, and she played a pivotal role in assisting other institutions across the Southeast in establishing their own vein clinics. It was during this period that Kristie’s passion for aesthetics began to flourish.

In 2002, Kristie made a significant career move by joining a private plastic surgery office. Here, she worked in the operating room and continued to perform sclerotherapy, expanding her repertoire to include injectables. This marked the beginning of a new chapter in her professional life, one that she has remained dedicated to ever since. Her transition to plastic surgery was seamless, and she found her true calling the moment she stepped into this field.

Julia is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner with an aesthetic passion focused on helping patients achieve natural, restorative results with deep understanding of the physiology of aging. She takes great pride in building strong relationships with her patients—working to create, together, personalized anti-aging journeys.

Julia earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from NC State before pursuing her nursing education at Duke University, where she completed her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate in Nursing. With over a decade of nursing experience, she has been practicing as a Nurse Practitioner since 2017, primarily in procedural and surgical settings, ultimately setting her up for great success as an aesthetic injector.

After the birth of her daughter, she transitioned into aesthetic medicine—a shift inspired by her own experience of how feeling confident inside and out can positively impact every aspect of life. She now brings that same empowerment and balance to the patients she serves.

In addition to her clinical work, Julia is an adjunct faculty member at the Duke University School of Nursing, where she finds great fulfillment in mentoring and empowering nurses to reach their full potential.

Outside of work, Julia loves returning to her roots in the Outer Banks, where she enjoys spending time with her family and soaking in the salt air.

Chantel Smith is a Registered Nurse (RN) and North Carolina native. She graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University with a BS in Health and Exercise Science, and then from East Tennessee State University with a BS in Nursing. Chantel has worked in various clinical settings, from the aesthetics to emergency medicine. Over the past four years, Chantel has developed both passion and expertise through extensive experience with injectables, laser, microneedling and PRP. Chantel is driven to deliver the best client experience and her goal is to help people feel confident in their own skin.
